Frequently Asked Questions

+What exactly is this?

It is a study on human behavior in regards to giving money. We are asking the question, if you were only being asked for $5 which is an insignificant amount of money to most people, would you give it to a stranger in need? Many people may just say yes if they were asked, but we are asking you to actually do it. We also want the no's to submit their response. We are also asking for some demographic information so we can analyze the results by different groups.

+Who can participate?

Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria and is willing to submit a response. We want to hear from you no matter what your answer is. We are looking for a diverse group of participants to get a better understanding of how different people choose to give money.

+Why are you doing this?

We have been working in analytics for over 20 years, we are conducting this study to see how different groups of people make decisions about giving money to strangers while hopefully helping some people financially along the way.

+Is my payment information secure?

Yes, your information is secure. Payment information is handled securely by Stripe, we never see it and would never be able to access it.

+How do I become the next stranger in the study?

Anyone who participates in the study and opts into the stranger selection pool will be eligible to be selected as the next stranger. We will randomly select a participant from the pool to be the next stranger once the current stranger's study concludes. If you are selected as the next stranger, we will notify you via email and provide instructions on how to submit your story and receive your gift.

+When and how do participants learn the outcome?

After the timer has expired for each stranger's study, the results are made public. You provide your email when you enroll, and that's how we notify you when the study concludes and the findings are published.

+Can I get a refund?

No, a refund is not available as that would defeat the purpose of the study. The gift is a commitment to a yes response. We encourage you to provide your honest response before submitting.
